Houston Heights was originally established in the 1800s as a neighborhood where people could escape from the hustle of Houston, but still be close to all the action. The community was named for the fact that it sits 23 feet higher than downtown Houston.

Often referred to as just ‘The Heights’, Houston Heights is located northwest of central Houston. The community stretches north of Interstate 10, south of Interstate 610, west of Studewood Street and east of North Shepherd Drive.
